Write On!

Need more prompting for your poetry? Here are some websites guaranteed to meet that need:

Phoenix Rising Poetry Guild – This is a brand new poetry prompt site, with its first prompt scheduled for February 1, 2015, brought to you by Walter J. Wojtanik, the host of the recently retired Creative Bloomings. I have long admired the scope of Walt’s talent. He is a truly gifted wordsmith. Both Creative Bloomings and its predecessor, Poetic Bloomings, provided a warm, inviting and encouraging environment in which to write. This tradition is sure to continue at its new location.

Robert Lee Brewer’s Poetic Asides Blog – For many of us, this is where it all began. In addition to a weekly prompt each Wednesday, this blog also features form challenges and poet interviews and a slew of information to help you perfect your craft. A part of the Writer’s Digest online community, you’ll find many tools and tips here to help you perfect your craft.

The Sunday Whirl – Every week, The Sunday Whirl posts a wordle of twelve words as your inspiration for a poem or short prose containing all twelve words. The posts go online Sunday 12:01 a.m.

Haiku Horizons – If you enjoy writing in the beautiful style of Japanese haiku, stop here every Sunday for a new prompt. Good things here always come in small packages.

Poetry Jam – The place for ‘jamming’ in the blogosphere, Poetry Jam offers a variety of prompts every Tuesday at 9:00 CST.

dVerse Poets Pub – This site provides you with three poetic opportunities each week: Poetics – presents a prompt each Tuesday; OpenLinkNight – link any poem you want on the last Saturday of every months; FormForAll/Meeting the Bar – a lab where you’ll receive teaching on forms and critique on Thursdays.

Imaginary Garden With Real Toads – As if the name of this blog isn’t enough to infuse your muse, you will find it an encouraging environment with a welcoming atmosphere in which to write. Be sure to check out the Mission Statement.
